Use a condom

for oral and anal sex from start to finish every time. Male (external) or internal condoms can be used and are free at the Health Unit!

Don’t share sex toys.

Remember not all sex toys can be disinfected. Cover your toy with a new condom before each use. How to clean sex toys.

Engage in lower risk

activities such as mutual masturbation, sensual massage, or sex with a condom.

Be prepared.

Have condoms on hand, and be ready to use them. Be aware that you may not make safer choices if you are under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

Use Dental Dams

for safer rimming. Latex dams or a condom cut in half can keep anilingus safe. Get them FREE at the health unit.


Talk to your partner about getting tested. It is important to know each others status before having sex.
What to say before you play?

Lube it up

Water-based lube is latex friendly and can make sex more sensual while lowering the risk of irritation or anal tears. Caution. Slippery when wet!

Get Vaccinated.

Hepatitis A and B vaccines are available for free. HPV vaccines are available for men 26 and under for free.


PrEP or Truvada medication used daily can reduce the risk of HIV infection by up to 99%.
